Davy is Belgian, born in 1975 in Gent. He is a Dutch native speaker, is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French and German.
Davy studied physics at Ghent University, Belgium. He obtained his PhD with greatest distinction in 2001 and did postdoctoral research in co-operation with a major Belgian industrial partner.
He gained experience in intellectual property in private practice and through various courses on IP related matters. He worked for over five years in a leading Belgian intellectual property firm, where he provided services to private inventors, small companies as well as multi-nationals.
In 2007 he qualified as European patent attorney.
Davy has experience in drafting and prosecution of European and International as well as other patent applications. He has acquaintance with filing and representing before the European Patent Office. He is also experienced in novelty searches, providing patentability opinions, providing opinions regarding freedom to market, validity and infringement, doing risk assessment analysis and providing advice and expert reports in litigation for Belgian courts. He has experience in setting out patent portfolio and valorisation strategies, and, more in general, in advice and guidance in patent related matters.
In 2009 Davy founded DenK iP bvba together with Kris.
