Gert is Belgian, born in 1967 in Bilzen. He is a Dutch native speaker, is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French and German.

He graduated in 1990 and holds a master’s degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Leuven, Belgium.

After his studies he worked in the consumer-electronics industry for more than 15 years, where he gained experience in hardware and software, in areas such as digital signal processing, programmable logic and gate-array design, data storage (flash, hard-disk, file systems, lossless compression), set-top-box design for digital broadcast systems (DVB-T, qam, qpsk), image/audio/video compression (jpeg, mpeg1, mpeg2), digital signal processing (scaling, de-interlacing), etc.

He worked in a Belgian intellectual property firm for over three years, providing services to private inventors and small-medium companies in patent drafting and prosecution, searching and providing opinion on patentability.

Gert joined DenK iP bvba in December 2011.
